Title: New Mentor Teacher Training 

Course Description: The primary goal of quality mentoring for the Entry Years Enhancement (EYE) program is to support beginning teachers in the development of their skills and expertise so that they can become successful practitioners of effective instruction as required in the Utah Effective teaching Standards.  This course covers the USOE Competencies of a Quality EYE Mentor.

  • Class Format: 2 Day Face-to-Face
  • Instructors:  Judy Jackman, Patricia Bennett, Michelle Stewart-Chavez
  • Dates: Held in the fall of each school year. Each class needs at least 5 registered to carry.
  • Time:  4:00-8:00 pm
  • Location: Auxiliary Services Building / PDC 103
  • Registration: Register through JPLS
  • Credit Type: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be considered a "trained mentor" and may be assigned by a principal to mentor provisional educators.

Title:  New Mentor Teacher Training -- All Day Class

Course Description:  This is the same as the 2-day class, but in 1 day.  Principals will need to provide the cost of a substitute for each teacher who attends the all-day class.

  • Dates: September 23
  • Time: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
  • Registration: Register through JPLS
  • Credit Type: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be considered a "trained mentor" and may be assigned by a principal to mentor provisional educators.

Title: New Mentor Teacher Training -- Online

Course Description: This course offers participants the ability to become trained as a mentor at their own pace.  Additionally, it serves as a refresher for previously trained mentors who do not wish to attend another face-to-face class.

  • Time: Continuous
  • Location:  Online

  • Credit Type: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be considered a "trained mentor" and may be assigned by a principal to mentor provisional educators.
